Abstract:
A lottery terminal apparatus (104, 116) and method of playing a word based lottery (fig 4D) inclues a value input device (130), a display unit (128)and a lottery input unit (126, 132) for receiving alphabetical game play information the display unit (128) is adapted to visually display the received alphabetical display information. The lottery terminal unit (104, 116) further includes a controller (200) having a memory (202, 206) and a processor (204), wherein the controller is operatively coupled to the display unit (128) and is programmed to receive wager data (130) in response to a wager made by a person. The controller (200) and method (fig 4D) may assign a prize value to the alphabetical game play information received from the lottery input unit (126, 132) and ramdonly select an alphabetic sample based on a distribution of choices. The controller may further determine a correlation between the alphabetic sample and the alphanumeric game play information to determine a payout value based on a comparison of the alphabetic sample and the alphanumeric game play information to determine the prize value.
