Title:
WORK BENCH
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2004101230
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
A work bench (10) is disclosed which provides a clamping cradle (40) into which relatively large work-piece can be held and clamped in a vertical orientation. This arrangement is particularly useful for holding doors, or the like so that the handyman can fit hinges or locks, for example, whilst the door is held securely by the work bench. The work bench also provides a foot operated clamping device (16, 18), which forms at least part of the work bench's work surface. When not in use, the top jaw of the clamping device lies flush with the work surface. The work bench also incorporates a clamping means (75) which comprises a wedge shaped clamping member disposed in a frame. The part of the frame on which the clamping member engages is angled with respect to a part of the frame on which they work-piece engages. The work-piece is held tightly by moving the clamping member until it engages the work-piece and the angled edge of the frame.
