Abstract:
A rod can be stably in contact with the work by an arrangement in which an air passage for feeding compressed air for detecting the contact between the rod and the work is provided in a work support. The work support (1) comprises a case member (3), a rod (4), a sleeve body (5) elastically deformable toward the small-diameter side, a hydraulic cylinder (6) for driving the rod (4) toward the projecting side, a spring (7) for elastically biasing the rod (4) toward the projecting side, a detection nozzle (8) for spouting compressed air, an air passage (9) connected to the detection nozzle (8), and a pressure sensor (10) and a control unit (15) for detecting the contact of the end of the rod (4) with the work (2) through the pressure in the air passage (9) and controlling a hydraulic pressure supply (12). To support the work (2), the end of the rod is brought into contact with the work (2) while the compressed air is being spouted from the detection nozzle (8), and the sleeve body (5) is elastically deformed toward the small diameter side after the pressure sensor (10) and the control unit (15) detect the contact of the rod (4) so as to lock the rod (4).
