Title:
WORKPIECE PRODUCTS AND WORKPIECE PRODUCT MANUFACTURING METHOD USING FRICTION STIR WELDING, AND REMAINING WORKPIECE AFTER WORKPIECE PRODUCTS ARE CUT OUT FROM WORKPIECE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2018/150509
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
[Problem] To enable improvement in material yield and improvement in shortening processing time by applying friction stirring to a large-size workpiece, and to solve problems associated with application of fiction stirring to the large-size workpiece. [Solution] A friction-stir-welded workpiece is manufactured by applying friction stir welding along butt joint surfaces throughout a length, of a length L, that is obtained by adding a length of at least twice a thickness l of one member to a total width Lo of a plurality of workpiece products, and the plurality of workpiece products are cut out from the friction-stir-welded workpiece in a direction perpendicular to the friction stir welding surface. The plurality of workpiece products having the same width are cut out from the friction-stir-welded workpiece while leaving cutting margins, each having a length greater than the thickness l of the one member, on both sides of each of the workpiece products prior to being cut out.
