Abstract:
$i(Zoysia matrella) holding its green color in winter and substantially producing no anthocyanin under usual cultivation conditions, $i(Z. matrella) having a high runner density, $i(Z. matrella) prolonging runners at high temperatures and low insolation, and dwarf $i(Z. matrella) are obtained by mutagenesis with the use of a series of unique techniques including a combination of mutagenic procedures such as cell mutation, ultraviolet light irradiation and X-ray treatment, formation and utilization of shoot primordium-like body and screening of mutated cells. By using the newly invented genotypes, novel varieties of $i(Eragrostoideae) are further obtained.
