Abstract:
To provide a technology that can accurately determine the type of a recording material to derive a basis weight.SOLUTION: Processing executed by an image forming apparatus 100 causes a control unit 101 to perform steps of: deriving a first basis weight corresponding to a first transmittance by using a criterion 611 (S1320); deriving a second basis weight corresponding to a second transmittance by using a criterion 711 (S1325); determining whether the difference between the first basis weight and second basis weight is less than a basis weight threshold 126 (S1330); determining that the type of a recording material S is coat paper (S1335) when the difference between the first basis weight and second basis weight is less than the basis weight threshold 126 (YES in step S1330); and determining that the type of the recording material S is plain paper (S1340) when the difference is not less than the threshold (NO in step S1330).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13
