Abstract:

To provide a sensor unit and an image forming apparatus including the same, capable of preventing a conveyance resistance of a sheet from becoming too large, and suppressing an occurrence of a conveyance defect.SOLUTION: A sensor unit 30 includes: an illumination housing 67 forming an upper surface 12a of a paper conveyance path 12; a CIS carriage main body 37 that constitutes a lower surface 12b of the paper conveyance path 12; a CIS 40 for detecting a side edge of paper P; and a gap adjustment mechanism 99 that supports the illumination housing 67 so as to be movable in a direction in which a gap distance becomes larger than a reference value from a first position where the gap distance becomes the reference value. When the paper P having a thickness larger than the reference value passes through the paper conveyance path 12 with the illumination housing 67 placed at the first position, the illumination housing 67 is moved by the paper P in a direction away from the CIS carriage main body 37.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 18
