In a railroad memory area 3 of a Suica(R) used as a railroad IC card 1, railroad value data such as commuter ticket information usable in the railroad facilities are stored. A rental memory area 4 can be lent to another company. For example, an A function contents memory area 4a of the rental memory area 4 is lent to an A company, and contents value data for realizing the A function (for example, a function as a money coupon) can be stored. Updating of the value data in each memory can be collectively carried out by a railroad company, or alternatively, the A company can update the value data in the A function contents memory area 4a. In this way, a plurality of contents functions can be realized by the single IC card.
