Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel for machine structural use for induction hardening excellent in machinability, and excellent in surface fatigue strength after being induction-hardened, and an induction-hardened steel component excellent in surface fatigue strength.SOLUTION: The steel for machine structural use for induction hardening is adopted that has a chemical composition containing C:0.40 to 0.70%, Si:0.15 to 3.00%, Mn:0.30 to 2.00%, Cr:0.01 to less than 0.50%, S:0.003 to 0.070%, Bi:over 0.0001 to 0.0050%, Sn:0.0001 to 0.0050%, Bi and Sn:0.0002 to 0.0050% in total, N:0.0030 to 0.0075%, Al:0.003 to 0.100%, and P:less than 0.050, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and satisfying the formula (1) and the formula (2). The steel has an existing density of Mn with an equivalent circle diameter of less than 2 μm in a cross section in parallel to a rolling direction of a steel material of 300/mmor more. 290C+50Si+430≥620...(1). d+3σ<20...(2).SELECTED DRAWING: None
