Abstract:
To promptly remove oxalic acid included in excess water.SOLUTION: A method for treating excess water including oxalic acid and generated by supplying pure water to devices in a nuclear power plant system when chemically decontaminating the system comprises: a pH control step of adding a pH adjuster to a tank for storing the excess water to control the pH of the excess water to 6.0 or less; an oxalic acid decomposition step of adding potassium permanganate to the excess water after the pH control step to decompose the oxalic acid in the excess water; a permanganic acid ion decomposition step of adding sodium hydrogen sulfite to the excess water after the oxalic acid decomposition step to decompose permanganic acid ions in the excess water; and a hydroxide addition step of adding alkali metal hydroxide to the excess water after the permanganic acid ion decomposition step.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
