PURPOSE: To maintain stabilized high performance of a PSA system, including a VPSA system, by making corrective adjustments of the system in the pressure- balancing or re-pressurizing operation in respsonse to imbalance of the temperature distribution of absorbing material vessels.
CONSTITUTION: The absorbing material vessels 8, 11 of the dual-bed VPSA oxygen producing system is monitored by the use of temperature sensors 27, 28 and the absorbing material vessels 8, 11 are automatically adjusted in response to distortion of temperature distribution curves of adsorption beds. If the existence of imbalance in purity of an oxygen product between both the adsorption beds is found by monitoring of the temperature of the absorbing material vessels 8, 11, corrective adjustments of the quantity of the gas flow for pressure balancing, the quantity of the gas flow for re-pressurizing oxygen and the quantity of the gas flow for purging are rapidly executed before deficiency of processing occurs. Namely, if imbalance occurs between both the adsorption beds of the absorbing material vessels 8, 11, a process computer 33 transmits an output control signal 33a, thereby regulating control valves 13, 19 and changing the flow of a gas to each adsorption bed or from each adsorption bed. Thus, the balancing of the pressure is attained.
