Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent capable of efficiently adsorbing and removing aromatic hydroxy compounds from an aqueous or organic solvent containing the compounds.
SOLUTION: The adsorbent for aromatic hydorxy compounds comprises particles of a solid solution of a multiple metal oxide represented by the formula: (Mgy1M2+y2)1-xAlxO1+0.5) (1) or particles of a hydrotalcite-like multiple metal hydroxide represented by the formula: (Gmy1M2+y2)1-zAlz(OH)2+a(An-b.mH2O (2). Aromatic hydroxy compounds in a solvent are removed by utilizing the adsorbent.
