Abstract:
To provide a high-purity amorphous silica that can reduce manufacturing costs by using a crystalline layered silicate compound, ilerite, which is a synthetic raw material with stable quality.SOLUTION: An amorphous silica is characterized by having a pore volume of 0.1 cm3/g or less and an oil absorption of 70 to 150 mL/100 g and being plate-like particles. A manufacturing method thereof is characterized by performing a heat treatment step and an acid treatment step, below, using a crystalline layered silicate compound, ilerite, as a raw material: the heat treatment step in which a crystalline layered silicate compound is heat-treated at a temperature of 100 to 1000°C, and the acid treatment step in which a layered silicate compound is subjected to acid treatment by being immersed in an acidic aqueous solution prepared to have pH≤4.0.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
