An anti-hot spot device for at least one photovoltaic module (10) including: a photovoltaic module shunt diode (20), means (36, 40) for detecting at least one operating characteristic of the photovoltaic module, and means (22, 34) for isolating the photovoltaic module (10) from the chain in response to an abnormal operating characteristic being detected.
