Title:
APPARATUS FOR PURIFYING EXHAUST GAS FROM INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE AND METHOD FOR MAKING CATALYST BE SUPPORTED ON PARTICULATE FILTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3888171
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the fine particle collection rate of a particulate filter while keeping the pressure loss of the filter minimum.
SOLUTION: The particulate filter 10 in which an exhaust gas introduction passage 20 and an exhaust gas discharge passage 21 formed by a partition of a porous material are provided, and introduced exhaust gas passes through the pores of the partition to be discharged to the exhaust gas discharge passage is provided. The first catalyst layer 26 having a carrier of a porous material and a catalyst supported on the carrier is formed on the wall surface of the partition and on the wall surface for forming the pores of the partition. The second catalyst layer 27 having a carrier having porosity greater than that of the partition and pores having an average diameter smaller than that of the pores of the partition and the catalyst supported on the carrier is formed on the first catalyst layer formed in the wall surface of the partition for forming the exhaust gas discharge passage.
