Abstract:
To provide an aqueous coating composition capable of forming a coating film having excellent coating film performance even when cured at a low temperature.SOLUTION: There is provided an aqueous coating composition which comprises an aqueous resin (A1) having a hydroxy group and a carboxyl group, a polyisocyanate compound (B), a hydrophilization modified carbodiimide compound (C) and a melamine resin (D), wherein the aqueous resin having a hydroxy group and a carboxyl group (A1) has a hydroxyl value of 80 to 200 mgKOH/mg and an acid value of 10 to 40 mgKOH/mg in terms of resin solid content, the melamine resin (D) has an average number of imino groups per melamine nucleus of 1.0 or more and an average number of methylol groups per melamine nucleus of 0.5 or more, the content of the melamine resin (D) contained in the aqueous coating composition is 3 to 23 mass% based on the resin solid content of the aqueous coating composition and the gel fraction of a cured product of an equal mass mixture of the polyisocyanate compound (B) and the melamine resin (D) is in the range of 80 to 100%.SELECTED DRAWING: None
