Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a medicine containing a specific aryloxy alkanol in an antivirus effective amount and useful for treating various kinds of retrovirus- infected diseases including AIDS and AIDS-related complexes. CONSTITUTION: This medicine contains a compound of formula I [(n) is 3-8; Ar is 1-naphthylenyl, 2-naphthylenyl, phenyl, a group of formula II (Y is a bond, CH2 , CH2 O)], its ester with an effective amount of a 1-4C alkanoic acid, an alkenoic acid, etc., or its salt. The compound of formula I includes 6- phenoxyhexan-1-ol. The antiretovirus effective dose of the compound of formula I is generally approximately 15-500mg/Kg. The compound of formula I may be administered by either of oral and parenteral administration methods, but is preferably orally administered.
