Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the device which automatically detects the position of an audience to automatically adjust the balance between stereo right and left sound volumes.

CONSTITUTION: Five audiences position detecting infrared sensors 6 which can be remotely controlled are provided in the center part under a screen 4 of a television receiver 1 provided with speakers 2 and 3 which reproduce stereo sounds. When the audience position detecting button of a commander is depressed, light is received by a light reception part 7 to operate the viewer position detecting infrared sensors 6, thereby detecting which area of sensor areas L1, L2, C, R1, and R2 an audience exists in. If one audience wacthes the television in the position of the sensor area L1, the balance between right and left sound volumes is automatically adjusted with the area L1 as the center.
