PURPOSE: To resume copying an uncopied original just after a jammed paper is removed by continuing an original feeding action even if a jam occurs and stopping an original automatic circulating action after a first uncopied original is set to a copying ready condition.

CONSTITUTION: While a resist sensor 11 detects an original and is ON, pulses of an encoder fitted to a pull-out roller 9 are counted to detect the size of the original. If the number of the counted pulses exceeds a prescribed number, it is decided as being a jam. At this time, original are continuously fed, a prescribed number of sheets are fed back, and an original is searched. When the first original uncopied due to jamming is confirmed to be set to a copying ready condition, an original automatic circulating action is stopped. Consequently, instant that the completion of a jam removing action is decided, copying an uncopied original starts according to the decision that a print key is turned on.
