Title:
BALL SPLINES OF TOROIDAL CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3951387
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the trouble in ball splines and the transmission loss caused by the excess bearing, by making a number of spline clearances different from the integral multiple of a number of pieces of the power rollers held between an input disc and an output disc for transmitting the rotating torque between the both discs.
SOLUTION: A number N of spline clearances and a number of pieces Np of power rollers kept into contact with an input disc are determined so that the number N is not integral multiple of the number Np. As a result, a phase of a deformation area of the input disc and the positions of the spline grooves are overlapped only by a number of points same as the greatest common divisor of N and Np at all times, so that a number of spline clearances where an interval is reduced largestly from the optimum value, is less than a half of Np. Whereby a number of ball arrays to which the maximum load is applied, is remarkably reduced in comparison with the ordinary ball splines, so that the trouble in the ball splines and the transmission loss caused by the excess bearing can be minimized.
