Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a block copolymer composition which contains a chain skeleton of polysulfide polymer and a copolymer chain skeleton of radically polymerizable unsaturated monomers, shows high compatibility to plasticizers with low viscosity and is readily curable with a curing agent to give cured products excellent in weathering resistance, discoloration behavior and durability.
CONSTITUTION: An unsaturated monomer of formula I (R1 is H, methyl; R2 is an 1 to 20C alkyl) and an unsaturated monomer of formula II (R3 is H, methyl; R4 is H, an alkyl bearing a functional group such as hydroxyl), for example, 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate are allowed to react with each other in the presence of a polysulfide polymer of formula III ((x) is 1 to 5; (m) is 1 to 50) to give the objective copolymer including the polysulfide polymer chain skeleton of having therein the structural unit of the formula: C2H4OCH2H4-Sx and the copolymer chain skeleton of radically polymerizable unsaturated monomers.
