To provide a braille data communication device which uses a cellular phone connectable to a wireless packet communication network as a communication device, has excellent portability and communication capability at arbitrary locations, and performs simple communication with any communication partners who may be visually or auditorily handicapped persons by means of only one device.
The braille data communication device 200 has a cellular phone 100 that is a communication device connectable to a wireless packet communication network, and wirelessly or cable-connected to the cellular phone 100. The braille data communication device 200 has a communication control part 220 which controls data transmission and reception to and from the cellular phone 100, an input/output mode setting part 212, an input part 240 which follows an input/output mode set by the input/output mode setting part 212, an output part 250 which outputs braille or voice data according to the input/output mode which is thus set, and an input converter 230 which converts braille or voice data input by the input part 240 to Hiragana character data.
