Title:
CARBON FIBER REINFORCED ALUMINUM ALLOY COMPOSITE MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01127634
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the strength and heat resistance of a composite material by combining carbon fiber having a specified modulus of tensile elasticity in the axial direction with an Al alloy contg. Mg. CONSTITUTION:Carbon fiber having >=26t/mm<2> modulus of tensile elasticity and >=1.0% tensile fracture elongation in the axial direction is combined with an Al alloy contg. 3-12wt.% Mg by hot pressing, powder metallurgical processing, high pressure casting or other method. The strength of the resulting composite material is hardly reduced even when the material is used at high temp. or subjected to a thermal cycle, so the material is applicable to the fan blades of a compressor, etc., for a jet engine and various parts of a locket, an artificial satellite, etc.
