In the carbonaceous material reforming equipment 10, a surface-coated carbonaceous material is produced in which the surface of a carbonaceous material to be used for a sintering material is coated with a coating material containing ≥36 mass% of Ca derived from a lime material at a ratio of ≥2 mass% and <30 mass% in terms of mass% relative to the carbonaceous material; and the surface-coated carbonaceous material and a sintering mixing material are mixed together by a mixer 11 to be turned to the sintering material. The carbonaceous material reforming equipment 10 includes: a slaking machine 12 adding water to quick lime to produce the coating material containing slaked lime; and a kneading machine 13 adding water to the coating material and the carbonaceous material and kneading them to coat the carbonaceous material with the coating material.
