A choke device having a choke valve 13 arranged in an intake flow channel 11 of an engine has a first drive member 30 displacing from a first position to a second position according to a drawing out movement of a recoil rope 21 and displacing from the second position to the first position according to an unwinding movement, a second drive member 40 displacing between a choke valve opening position and a choke valve closing position interlocking with the choke valve, a transmitting member 50 displacing the second drive member to the choke valve closing position interlocking with the displacement of the first drive member to the second position and allowing the first drive member to displace to the first position with the second drive member remaining in the choke valve closing position, a biasing means biasing the choke valve in a direction changing the choke valve to an opening state, choke valve opening movement delaying means 110, 120 generating a resisting force against changing movement of the choke valve by the biasing means and delaying a time period when the opening state is established.
