To provide a cloth having hygroscopicity and not exhibiting tackiness to the skin even in absorbing sweat or moisture and clothing using the cloth.

This cloth is composed of a water repellent warp 1 and a weft 3. In the cloth, the water repellent warp 1 is, e.g. passed between common weft 3 and skipping three weft 3, then pierced between the weft 3, thus the warp 1 is loosened in the skipped part to form a pile woven part 4. A height of the pile woven part 4 is higher than a plain woven part 5 woven by a hygroscopic warp 2 and when its surface is made to be brought into contact with the skin, sweat or moisture is absorbed in the hygroscopic plain woven part 5, then the plain woven part 5 is not tightly brought into contact with the skin because the water repellent pile woven part 4 has sufficient height, thus a comfortable wearing feeling is obtained and an elasticity can be imparted by mixing an elastic yarn, as necessary.
