To provide high quality coated paper for printing that is excellent in printing smoothness and printing gloss while reducing costs and a method for producing the same.
The coated paper for printing is produced as follows. When providing two or more coating layers including a pigment and an adhesive agent as main components on at least one side of base paper, the coating layer that contacts with the base paper is coated by a film transfer method and a coating weight on one side is adjusted to 1 to 10 g/m2. The coating layer includes inorganic particles having a precipitation bulkiness of 0.6 to 0.8 cc/g that are obtained by: a heat treatment step for drying and then firing a raw material including papermaking sludge; a carbonation step for contacting the resultant of the heat treatment step with a gas containing carbon dioxide; a dewatering step for concentrating and dewatering carbonated emulsion; and a dispersion step for dispersing the obtained dewatered concentrate, in an amount of 10 pts.mass or more with respect to 100 pts.mass of the pigment. As binders, latex and starch are included in a mass ratio of 1:0.5 to 1:10.
