Title:
COLLECTING INSTALLATION OF URANIUM IN SEA WATER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS58141350
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a titled device which can collect uranium in sea water efficiently, and is small in size and low in cost by anchoring many uranium adsorbing devices consisting of adsorbers contg. grid-like adsorbents and air tanks on the sea surface and keeping the same into contact with the sea water.

CONSTITUTION: Many uranium adsorbing devices 8 wherein air tanks 4 having buoyancy are mounted in the upper parts of uranium adsorbers 3 contg. uranium adsorbents 5 produced by molding cordierirte impregnated with titanic acids into grid shapes in a specified direction in casings 6 are connected flexibly by means of coupling members 7. The many devices 8 connected in such a way are combined in saw tooth shapes, and are anchored on the sea surface by means of anchoring devices consisting of anchoring buoys 1 and anchoring ropes 2. The devices 8 are floated and drifted on the sea surface along the direction 9 of the ocean current by the buoyancy of the air tanks 4, and a large volume of the sea water flows through the adsorbents 5 in contact therewith, whereby the uranium in the sea water is adsorbed efficiently on the adsorbents 5.
