PURPOSE: To obtain an compounded composition which can give an adhesive excellent in initial tack, bonding strength, water resistance, etc., by mixing a specified modified polyvinyl alcohol with an aqueous emulsion and a polyisocyanate compound.
CONSTITUTION: A modified polyvinyl alcohol comprising structural units represented by the formula (wherein n is an integer of 2-20) is mixed with an aqueous emulsion and a polyisocyanate compound. An adhesive containing the obtained compounded composition is desirable. A wooden article obtained by bonding with this adhesive is more desirable. Examples of the aqueous emulsions include aqueous emulsions prepared by emulsion-polymerizing ethylene, vinyl acetate, an acrylic ester, etc., and aqueous emulsions, such as polyurethane emulsions, obtained by postemulsifying polymers. Examples of the polyisocyanate compound include tolylene diisocyanate and triphenylmethane triisocyanate.
