Abstract:
PURPOSE:To remove continuously a higher alcohol from an alkylpolysaccharide while preventing the polysaccharide from being denatured and discolored by feeding a mixture of the alkylpolysaccharide with the higher alcohol and a specified viscosity depressant to a supercritical gas extraction tower and bringing the mixture into contact with a supercritical gas. CONSTITUTION:A mixture 11 of an alkylpolysaccharide with a higher alcohol and a viscosity depressant of a concentration of 5-70wt.% comprising an organic solvent 12 (e.g. ethanol) and water 13 are fed to feed preparation tank 1 and mixed to obtain a feed 14 of a reduced viscosity. This feed 14 and a supercritical gas 15 are fed to a supercritical gas extraction tower 2 and brought into contact with each other. An extract 16 comprising the supercritical gas containing the organic solvent component in the viscosity depressant and the higher alcohol is discharged from the overhead of the tower 2, and an extraction residue 17 containing the water component in the viscosity depressant, the residual supercritical gas and the alkylpolysaccharide is discharged from the bottom. The residue 17 is led to a gas/liquid separator 3 and separated into an aqueous alkylpolysaccharide solution 18 and supercritical gas 19, and the extract 16 is fed to a gas/liquid separator 4 and separated into a mixture 20 of the viscosity depressant component with the higher alcohol and supercritical gas 21.
