To provide a control device for an elevator detecting occurrence of violence action of a passenger from a camera image, automatically control operation of the elevator according to the violence circumstance and recording the camera image while making the camera image relevant to detection information of the violence action of the passenger.

The control device for the elevator is provided with a camera 2 installed in an elevator car 1 and photographing the passenger in the car; an image monitoring device 3 for detecting the violence circumstance of the passenger from a recording image photographed by the camera; and a recorder device 4 informed with the detection result when the image monitoring device detects the violence circumstance of the passenger and changing the recording density of the recording image to high density. When the image monitoring device detects the violence circumstance of the passenger, a security company 10 or an owner 11 is notified according to the degree of the circumstance of the detection of the violence of the passenger.
