To provide a control device of a radial steam turbine system and its operating method capable of securing stable starting, not imposing a load over the allowable torque on a generator rotor of permanent magnet type and free of bringing about an erosion in turbine impellers.
The control devices 10 and 200 control the starting operation of the radial steam turbine system, wherein the control devices 10 and 200 are equipped with a revolving speed control means to perform speed increase control of the revolving speed of a turbine rotor using a bi-directional power converter 10 in starting the radial stream turbine system and a steam supplying flow-rate control means to supply the steam to the turbine impellers 2 and 4 by controlling the degree of opening of a steam flow regulating valve 14 so that the generator output at each revolving speed nullifies approximately.
