A push button 15 which has not various display function, but only a switch function as an article selection button is provided on the outside of an electric illumination plate 3 and a display unit 20 which displays at least the price and cold/hot distinction of an article and the operation state (not ready or in warming or cooling, etc.), of the automatic vending machine is provided at the front part of a display base 4 for an article sample 5 arranged in an intermediate door 14. Then the display contents of the display unit 20 are changed, for every column, associatively with the operation state of the automatic vending machine and the contents of operation by an operator.
