PURPOSE: To obtain a cutter bit for a material removal tool with long durable period by providing a binder on a metal base, hard material particles and diamond grains acting as a cutting element.
CONSTITUTION: A cutter bit comprises 6-15 vol.% diamond grains, 1-3 vol.% hard material particles and 82-93 vol.% binder to the whole vol. of the cutter bit. By incorporating the hard material particles, wear resistance of the binder can be improved by 3-4-fold. Reinforcement of the binder can be accurately controlled depending on amt. of the hard material particles. It is possible thereby to form the cutter bit into various shapes and the shapes can be fitted to a substrate to be used. In accordance with uses, the substrate can be made into a hollow cylinder, a disc, a roller, etc.
