PURPOSE: To prevent a bulge which produced in a cut section, from being restrained, and to reduce the cutting load to improve the quality of a product, by forming vertical relief checking surfaces which are obtained by enlarging the opposed surfaces of upper and lower retainer plates of a V-like cutter, and bottom relief checking surfaces having relieves on the right and left sides of the base section.

CONSTITUTION: Upper and lower relief checking surfaces 5, 6 which are inclined having an angle being enlarged in both right and left directions from a V-like cutter 2, are formed in the inner opposed surfaces of retainer plates 3, 4 which are integrally incorporated with the V-like cutter in the upper and lower parts of the latter. Further, bottom relief checking surfaces 7, 8 are formed to form relieves which is inclined at an angle such that deepest at the base section of the V-like cutter 2 and are gradually shallow rightward and leftward. Accord ingly, each bulged part of a continuous cast strip is prevented from being restrained at the cut section thereof, due to the action of the upper and lower relief checking surfaces 7, 8 and the bottom relief checking surfaces 7, 8 formed in the base section of the V-like cutter 2.
