PURPOSE: To prevent the deposition of concentrate particles into a rotary cylinder by forming an outer cover in such a manner that the cover delineates an annular position and terminate at the position parting from a concentrate discharge area and that the released concentrate particles are carried together with drying gas through the annular passage.
CONSTITUTION: This dehydrating device 10 for sludge has a bowl centrifuge 15 for separating a sludge-like solid-liquid mixture to a concentrate containing about 60 to 85 wt.% residual water content and a stationary housing 11. The concentrate discharge area 14 forms a spray drying and dispersing device and the stationary housing 11 is provided with a means for deflecting the flying route of the concentrate particles to an axial direction. The rotary cylinder 13 is enclosed by the outer cover 12 fixed to the stationary housing 11 for drying. The outer cover 12 delineates the annular passage 20 between itself and the housing 11 and terminates at the position parting from the concentrate discharge area 14. The concentrate particles released by the bowl centrifuge 15 are carried together with the drying gas through the annular passage 20.
