PURPOSE: To obtain a shampoo and basic cosmetic containing an essence extracted from Ecklonia stolonifera Okamura as an ingredient and capable of imparting gloss, roundness an moistness to the skin.

CONSTITUTION: A shampoo and basic cosmetic containing an essence extracted from Ecklonia stolonifera Okamura as an active ingredient. The Ecklonia stolonifera Okamura (especially with a low-molecular weight of about 500 molecular weight) is sufficiently dried, washed with water, then dried, finely cut to about 3-5cm width and subsequently converted into fine powder having about 100 mesh size. In a solution containing 10g sodium bicarbonate added to 1kg purified water, is dipped 100g aforementioned fine powder. To the resultant solution, is added 100g 1,3-butylene glycol and the obtained mixture is heated at 80°C for 3hr. Furthermore, 2kg purified water is added thereto and digestion is carried out at 50°C temperature for 24hr to filter the resultant extract solution twice in a hot state. The obtained filtrate is allowed to stand for 24hr to afford the objective essence containing alginates, polysaccharides and various amino acids.
