Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are ≤8C alkyl, ≤8C alkoxyalkyl or 5W7C cycloalkyl; X1 and X2 are H, ≤8C alkyl, ≤8C alkoxy or halogen; R1 and R2 may together form a heterocyclic group).
EXAMPLE: 2-( p-Dimethylaminophenyl )-2-(p-methoxyphenyl)-1-(0-carboxybenz oyl)ethylene.
USE: A synthetic intermediate for color-developing agent for recording material. Usable as a color-developing agent for pressure-sensitive copying paper or heat-sensitive recording paper for OCR using near infrared light.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by oxidizing a phthalide compound of formula II with an oxidizing agent such as m- nitrobenzenesulfonic acid.
