Title:
DISCONNECTION DETECTING DEVICE FOR THERMAL HEAD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3725914
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a disconnection detecting device capable of detecting number of heating resistors having disconnections in a thermal head with high accuracy in a short time by a low detection voltage.
CONSTITUTION: A disconnection detection voltage Vi of which voltage level is sufficiently lower than a thermal head driving standard voltage VH is applied to a non-inverting input terminal of an operational amplifier 11 and a fixing resistor RO is connected between the output terminal and the inverting input terminal. A terminal (a) of a switch 12 is connected to the inverting input terminal. A reference power supply 1 for driving the thermal head and a first capacitor C1 are connected to a terminal (b) in parallel and a common terminal of the switch 12 is connected to the thermal head 5. In a print mode, the switch 12 is switched to a side of the terminal (b), then normal printing is executed and in a disconnection number detecting mode, the switch 12 is switched to a side of the terminal (a), then a plurality of heating resistors 6 of the thermal head 5 are controlled to be simultaneously energized so that the number of heating resistors 6 having disconnections is detected by virtue of deviation of the output voltage of the operational amplifier 11.
