Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersant for emulsion polymerization, capable of providing a vinyl acetate emulsion having excellent water-resistant adhesivity and viscosity stability when stored at room temperature.SOLUTION: The dispersant for emulsion polymerization comprises a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin having acetoacetyl groups, in which a distribution of a degree of modification with acetoacetyl groups has a half value width of 2.3 mole% or more, and the degree of modification with acetoacetyl groups of the acetoacetyl group-containing polyvinyl alcohol-based resin is 1 to 20 mole%. Also provided is an adhesive comprising a vinyl acetate-based resin emulsion obtained by polymerizing vinyl acetate by using the dispersant.
