The display device 10 is provided with an AC type color PDP 101, data driver circuits 102a to 102e and scan driver circuits 103a to 103c in a display element, and also is provided with: a video signal processing circuit for performing conversion and processing of the video signal inputted to the the driver circuit section; a driving signal generating circuit for outputting the driving signal to the respective circuits according to a synchronizing signal; and a high voltage driving circuit for supplying a high voltage powder source to the respective data driver circuits according to the driving signal inputted from the driving signal generating circuit. The input side of the video signal processing circuit of the driving circuit section is provided with an image persistence prevention processing circuit which subjects the video signal of the specific region to the image persistence prevention processing for the specific period.
