To expedite the alarm timing when an in-vehicle mobile telephone is used by comparing the corrected alarm distance with the actual distance detected by a distance sensor part when the external input signal in a vehicle or other equipment is present, and generating an alarm under the prescribed condition.
When the received signal enters a hand-free telephone device using e.g. a mobile telephone 50, the signal is received by a controller 20 of a distance alarm device as the external input signal. When the controller 20 detects the external input signal, the calculated alarm distance is corrected to be longer than the normal alarm distance. When the mobile telephone 50 is rung, the alarm distance becomes automatically longer, and a speaker 23 or an alarm lamp 25 gives an alarm at the timing earlier than the normal one when the distance to a forward vehicle becomes shorter. As a result, an alarm is given earlier to promote the attention of a driver when the driver is conscious about the mobile telephone.
