To provide a drier capable of purifying contaminated soil, which is constructed in a manner such that soil discharged from the drier can be properly transported by virtue of an open-type transportation device.

The drier has a water spray nozzle 23 for spreading water onto the surface of soil being discharged from a dryer 1 and passing through a discharge-chute 19. When contaminated soil has been purified in the drier 1, the water spray nozzle 23 sprays water onto the purified soil when it is discharged through the discharge-chute 19, so as to moderately moisturize the same by adding water onto the surface of the dried soil. In this way, it is possible to prevent dust from arising from the purified soil, and to ensure a satisfactory conveyance when even utilizing the open-type transportation device such as a belt-conveyor 22, and even to simplify the maintenance-work since there is no fear that a biting may occur during the conveyance.
