Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device for brushless motor wherein a power consumption is reduced when a motor is started and high rotational accuracy is attained by PWM frequency driving during steady-state rotation, and also to provide a motor using the driving device.
SOLUTION: The driving device for brushless motor comprises a frequency switching means 60 and a pulse width modulating means 70. The frequency switching means 60 switches the carrier frequency of the pulse width modulating means 70 when the motor is started and in steady-state rotation after start-up. The carrier frequency at start of the motor is set to a value lower than that during steady-state rotation. Thus, power loss which is produced by PWM chopping when the motor is started is reduced. In addition, during steady-state rotation, high rotational accuracy is attained by driving at a sufficiently high PWM frequency.
