To provide a drying apparatus wherein drying efficiency is sharply improved by improving the structure of an arm for supporting a spiral stirring blade so that an article to be dried scraped up to an upper portion of a drying chamber falls smoothly to a bottom of a drying chamber, and hereby promoting circulation of the article to increase the chance of contact of the article with a heat transfer surface.
A drying apparatus is adapted such that a rotary shaft 15 is provided at a center of a cylindrical drying chamber 6 where an internal peripheral surface forms a heat transfer surface 5, on which rotary shaft a spiral stirring blade 10 is provided through a plurality of arms 16, by the rotation of which blade an article W to be dried in the drying chamber is scraped and is repeatedly brought into contact with the foregoing heat transfer surface, whereby the article is dried. In the apparatus, the foregoing arm 16 is formed into a plate shape and is mounted at an inclination angle β oppositely to a lead angle α of the spiral stirring blade 10 such that downward force is applied to the falling article W.
