Title:
ELECTRODE FOR ELECTRIC DRYING OF CERAMIC BODY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03261644
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To shorten the aging period and facilitate the attaching and detaching work of element by attaching a number of eyelet-shaped small terminals to a plate base closely contacting with an end face of a ceramic body composed of a mesh raw material and connecting the small terminals with each other through an electric wire.

CONSTITUTION: Electrodes for electric drying are pasted on both end faces of a cylindrical ceramic body 1. An electric current is passed through the body 1 by applying voltage to both electrodes and the body is dried by Joule heat. The electrode is furnished with a disk-shaped base 3 made of a water-permeable mesh material and a number of eyelet-shaped small terminals 4 dispersed nearly uniformly on the whole surface of the disk. The small terminals 4 are made of copper plate, fixed to the base 3 by caulking piercing through the holes of the base 3 and connected with each other through an electric wire 6. Electric current is supplied to the electric wire. Electric current can be uniformly supplied to the end face of the body 1 and passed uniformly throughout the whole cross-section of the body 1. Accordingly, the difference of water content between the circumferential part and the core part can be decreased and the drying time can be shortened. Water can be evaporated also through the base 3.
