PURPOSE: To provide the electrophotographic sensitive body which has excellent carrier generatability, high sensitivity and small residual potential and has the excellent durabiliy to obviate the change in these characteristics in spite of repetitive use by providing a photosensitive layer contg. a specific azo compd. on a conductive base.

CONSTITUTION: The photosensitive layer contg. the azo compd. expressed by formula I is provided on the conductive base. In the formula I, Cp1 to Cp3 respectively denote a residual coupler group having a phenolic hydroxyl group; R1 to R4 respectively denote a substituent; m1, m2 respectively denote 0 to 3 integer; m3 denotes 0 to 5 integer; (n) denotes 0 or 1. The electrophotographic sensitive body which has the high sensitivity and good color sensitivity, lessens the fluctuations in the sensitivity, electrostatic chargeability and residual potential in spite of the repetitive use and has the potential in spite of the repetitive use and has the excellent durability is obtd. by incorporating the specific azo compd. which can be combined with a wide range of carrier transfer materials and has the excellent carrier generatability into the photosensitive layer in such a manner.
