To provide an emergency message device which can announce the occurrence of the state of emergency to succeeding cars without being noticed by a criminal in the event of the occurrence of the state of the emergency within a bus.

The back side of captions 7 in a caption display 1 which is installed outward at the body of the bus and indicates the service systems, destinations, etc., is provided with a message lamp 10 which displays the characters, such as SOS, indicating the state of emergency by projection from the back of the captions. The message lamp 10 is lighted by pushing emergency message switches 25 and 27 disposed in the bus and the occurrence of the state of emergency is informed by the characters projected and displayed on the captions.
