Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emulsifier for emulsion polymerization, which brings about less toxicity and less bioaccumulation in conducting emulsion polymerization of a fluoropolymer compared with cases of use of a perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) ammonium salt as an emulsifier, and which lowers surface tension of water with a small amount of addition to an aqueous medium.SOLUTION: A salt of a heteroatom-containing perfluoroalkyl organic acid, which includes two or more 1-6C straight or branched chain perfluoroalkyl groups chemically connected with one another via nitrogen or oxygen is used as an emulsifier for emulsion polymerization.
