To provide an engine equipped with a catalyst device improving emission control performance while inhibiting increase of a noble metal consumption by activation of a catalyst.

The engine 1 equipped with the catalyst device 50 in an exhaust pipe 30 includes an exhaust gas temperature sensor 60, ignition coils 13, 13, ..., and a control device 70. The control device 70 stores an exhaust temperature threshold value Tt, a usual time map 721 and a short time map 722, controls an energization time of the ignition coils 13 based on the short time map 722 when exhaust gas temperature T detected by the exhaust gas temperature sensor 60 is not higher than the exhaust temperature threshold value Tt, and controls the energization time of the ignition coils 13 based on the normal time map 721 when the exhaust gas temperature T detected by the exhaust gas temperature sensor 60 exceeds the exhaust temperature threshold value Tt.
